Pedro Matos

Pedro Matos (Portugal, 1993) began his musical studies at age 11 in Music School “Luis Antonio Maldonado Rodrigues” (Lisbon) in classical guitar, where he also followed the course of Vocal Technique for three years under the guidance of professor Elsa Cortez. In 2014 he graduated in Classical Singing, in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), under the guidance of professor Silvia Mateus. He also graduated in classical guitar, in 2015, at the Évora University, professor Dejan Ivanovitch’s class.
As a singer he worked with Yvonne Minton, Carlos Monteiro, Paulo Ferreira, Geert Berghs, Pierre Mak and Margarida Natividade. He collaborates regularly with the choir of Casa da Música – Porto – and several vocal ensembles: Officium, “Grupo Vocal Olisipo” and Studio Contrapuncti as well as the early music ensemble Avres Serva. As a soloist he has collaborated regularly with Camerata de Sopros Sílvia Dionísio and Wind Orchestra of ESML.
Pedro played Aeneas and Wizard (Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell), Attach (Esther, António Leal Moreira) and Basilio / Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro, a production of “Atelier de Ópera da Metropolitana”. In 2012 he won a Honorable Mention in the“International Competition Cidade do Fundão”. He worked with many conductors such as Paulo Lourenço, Alberto Roque, Pedro Teixeira, João Paulo Santos, Paul Hillier, Nicolas Fink and Olari Elts. He works regularly in music theatre, and attended the Laboratory of Theatrical Creation, created by the stage director Claudio Hochmann. At present, he lives in Berlin where he works with professor Sami Kustaloglu.
